CRS Aerospace Signs Contract for Services in Mexico

CRS Aerospace has announced plans to expand its manufacturing facility in Sonora, Mexico. The Empalme operation will service aerospace customers by providing them with anodizing, chemfilm, cleaning, passivate, heat treat, non destructive testing,  and other key support services.

CRS signed a 4 year agreement with The Offshore Group for the provision of outsourced manufacturing support, or “shelter” services, as well as for the lease of 24,000 square feet of industrial space at the Bellavista Industrial Park.  CRS executives expect to employ approximately 100 workers.

“According to John Mohnach, company president, "CRS recently  purchased the assets of ChemResearch in Sonora and is dedicated to bringing a first class support infrastructure to the area. With our strong team and experience in developing companies in the aerospace industry we are excited about accomplishing this goal".

Offshore Group Client Company is a Supplier to Green Industry

Hydro Aluminum’s Empalme, Sonora and Phoenix, Arizona plants are benefitting from the increasing role that solar technologies are playing in the generation of electric power.

Hydro was the only aluminum supplier to a recently completed project in the U.S., Southwest.  Nevada Solar One is the third largest solar power plant in the world, generating 72MW as of June 2007.  The company manufactured the aluminum frames for the solar collectors that were installed on the southeast fringes of Boulder City, Nevada. The array  produces power for more than 14,000 households.

In addition to its participation in domestic solar power projects, Hydro’s Sonora and Arizona facilities are supplying aluminum frames to a similar facility that is in the process of being constructed in Spain.  The Spanish solar array will have a generation capacity similar to that of Nevada Solar One.  It is expected to come on-line at some time during the 2009 calendar year.

Richard Foote, Hydro’s value-added manager, believes that “since solar technology is only beginning to be popularized, it will be the source of many opportunities for our company in the years to come.  We feel that our involvement in these projects situates us on the forefront of a trend that will likely take years to reach its full maturity”.

The Offshore Group to Hold Seminar in Toronto, Canada

On Thursday, April 22 from 9:00am to 12:00pm, a seminar entitled, “Manufacturing in Mexico with The Offshore Group,” will be presented at the company’s Canadian headquarters in downtown Toronto.

An executive from Offshore Group client company, St. Clair Technologies, in Wallaceburg, Ontario will also be in attendance for the purpose of providing a manufacturing "case study".

The Offshore Group is the largest provider of outsourced manufacturing support, or “shelter” services in Mexico.  Its 62 client companies in the aerospace, automotive, electronics, medical device, HVAC and general manufacturing industries employ more than 16,000 workers.

Jyco Named World Supplier for GM Small Car

General Motors has awarded its contract for the glass run channels and outer belt weathersealing systems in its new global automotive program to Jyco Sealing Technologies.  The program calls for producing virtually identical vehicles on four continents: North America, Latin America, Asian Rim and Europe.  Jyco’s Guaymas, Sonora plant will supply the product to the North American market.

According to Jennifer Redding, Jyco’s program manager, “This global opportunity appealed to Jyco’s competitive nature.”   GM’s original SOR specified EPDM, but they were open to learning about the advantages that our TPV (thermoplastic vulcanizate) parts could bring to their program.  Our managers around the world jumped at the challenge of proving that TPV should be the material of choice and that Jyco is the supplier to work with on a worldwide scale”.

Jyco is the global leader in TPV sealing technology, and the only major weather-strip supplier working exclusively with this rubber-plastic compound.  Introduced by Jyco to the North American auto industry in 2000, TPV offers a number of functional and environmental advantages over other commonly used materials.
